Blast at ALROSA’s Udachny mine kills 1 miner, works resumed

MOSCOW, Jul 11 (PRIME) -- An unsanctioned blast rocked Russian diamond mining giant ALROSA’s Udachny mine during preparations to demolition works killing one miner early on Wednesday, and the mine has resumed operations, a representative of the company told PRIME.

The blast happened at the depth of 580 meters at 8.09 a.m. local time. The company brought all 174 miners to the surface after the blast.

Law enforcers and a special commission have already launched investigations. The company will decide on compensations for the family of the killed miner after the investigation is over.
